About UsOur MissionEvidence To Believe is a non-profit non-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to:
We do this by monitoring the media and exposing deception concerning Christianity and the teachings of Christ whenever and wherever we find it. At the same time, we present what we believe to be the true, historical facts concerning these issues to enquiring minds. We also write articles periodically to address questions that many Christians and non-Christians may have on their minds - questions like "is there any scientific evidence for a Creator, or a creation event?" "What makes Christ any different from any other great religious figure in history?" or "Why would God need to have a Son?" Our goal is to address the distortions and misinformation presented by the media, present the facts so that people can make informed decisions, and help Christians and seekers by presenting strong evidence to believe. We believe that today more than ever before, God has provided a voluminous amount of scientific, archeological, and other corroborating evidence to support belief and faith in Christ and the Christian message. Founder My name is Paul Dooley, and I started this
ministry in 2006 because I felt it was important that someone step up and
start combating the disinformation and distortions in the media about Christ and
Christianity. At that time the book "The Da Vinci Code" was coming out,
soon to be followed by a Hollywood movie. Of course many other Christian
scholars reviewed the book As part of this ministry I do most of the research and content development, all on a volunteer basis. I do accept submitted articles for review and potential publication on the site - so long as they address an important issue, are truthful, not malicious in any way, and do not violate any laws. If you are interested in submitting and article, email me. As to my background, I have been a Christian since Sept 23, 1973 - now 33 years. Before Christ (B.C.) I was a skeptic right up until my senior year in college (1973). I had spent my early years searching for truth, for meaning to life. In college I studied world religions, philosophy, exhausted myself with the college party scene, and looked for potential answers in politics and reworked institutions. But none of these things satisfied. I finally got to the point where I was totally frustrated. No amount of intellectualizing, philosophy, meditating, drinking, or partying would satisfy that "gaping hole" for answers that I had inside. I was in my senior year in college when I embarked on a cross-country camping trip with my family. My brother had become a Christian about a year earlier, and had brought along a Bible. He was speaking to me about Jesus while we were on the trip, but I told him I had no interest in Christ or Christianity. I asked if we could stop so I could pick up a book to read. We stopped briefly at a liquor store, and I picked up a booked titled "The Late Great Planet Earth". I had an interest in Science Fiction (SciFi), so I thought this book might serve as a useful distraction. When I opened and began reading this book by Hal Lindsey, was I surprised! This wasn't a SciFi book after all, but a book about prophecies in the Bible coming true! Why in "heavens name" did I pick this book, out of all the books on the shelf! As I began to read, I was amazed. I had no idea that there were so many astounding prophecies in the Bible that were being fulfilled today before our very eyes! I discussed some of these issues with my brother as we pulled into our camp ground and set up for the night. He challenged me to pray to God and ask Him to prove Himself - demonstrate that Jesus was who He claimed to be. I had nothing to loose, and everything to gain. Why not asked Jesus to prove Himself? Later that night, as the rained poured and the thunder and lightening cracked (no kidding), I prayed a simple prayer. I asked God to show me if Jesus was who He claimed to be. I prayed to God that if Jesus was real, then come into my heart and life and make me a new creation. I was serious, and I wanted to see if God was serious about me. The next morning I woke up and everything - I mean everything - was different. I felt the Lord was with me, and that His Spirit was in my very heart. Its hard to put into words, but I had a totally new perspective on life without even so much as trying. I felt joy in my heart, and a closeness to God that I had never felt before. The Bible, which previously I held to be largely a work of hard to decipher fiction, suddenly "came alive". I was reading it with understanding and it felt as though it was nourishment to my soul. My life also began changing in many other positive ways, with almost no effort!: the "hard rock" music I had listened to - Led Zepplin, Steppenwolf, etc. - fell by the way side, replaced by more uplifting music. The bad habits I was addicted to vanished with hardly me noticing. I experienced a daily walk with the Lord - a real relationship with God I had never known before. Relationships with my family were also strengthened, although at first they were astonished at such a dramatic change in me. Some friends fell away, but in retrospect they were perhaps not friends in the true sense anyway. And new friends were made -- and they still last till today. What We Believe At Evidence To Believe we subscribe to the Nicene Creed, which originated at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, in an effort to encapsulate the core beliefs of Christianity in one easy to remember and recite creed.
